Dear LFCDS Community,
I write with deep appreciation for this remarkable community and for the strong partnership we share in advancing our mission. On behalf of the Board of Trustees, thank you for your continued trust, engagement, and generosity—each essential in sustaining the strength of LFCDS.
At our recent Annual Meeting, the Board reflected on the year’s progress and reaffirmed our focus on the future. We reviewed our performance against annual goals, revisited our bylaws to ensure clarity and alignment, and discussed the results of our Board self-assessment. Together, these efforts strengthen our governance and underscore our commitment to thoughtful stewardship of the School.
We also recognized several encouraging indicators of momentum. Connections across our community are strong, enrollment remains robust, and philanthropic support continues to grow—clear signs of the confidence our families place in the LFCDS experience. At the same time, the launch of the Shaping What Comes Next capital campaign marks an exciting and important step forward, positioning LFCDS to build on its strengths while thoughtfully preparing for the opportunities ahead.
In the coming year, LFCDS will undertake its comprehensive self-study as part of the ISACS accreditation process. This work is a meaningful opportunity to reflect on our program, culture, and priorities. It is a chance to honor what distinguishes LFCDS while continuing to evolve in service of our students and families.
The Annual Meeting also marked a moment of transition and renewal for the Board. We were pleased to elect a new group of trustees, and we are grateful for their willingness to serve and lead. I extend my sincere thanks to all trustees for the time, care, and expertise they devote—often behind the scenes—to ensuring the School’s long-term vitality and success. They are:
Finally, I want to recognize our Head of School, John Melton, who leads LFCDS with clarity, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to students and families. He has strengthened every dimension of the School, developing and guiding us through a strategic plan while staying firmly grounded in our Mission, Vision, and Core Beliefs.
In close partnership with John—and with unanimous enthusiasm—the Board has voted to extend his term for an additional five years. This decision reflects our confidence in his leadership, and in the future he is shaping for LFCDS. We are grateful for his steady vision, his thoughtful stewardship, and for the many ways his family contributes to the life and spirit of this community. I look forward to what lies ahead under his continued leadership.
Thank you for all you do to support Lake Forest Country Day School and for the many ways you contribute to its continued success.
Onward,
Gilly Growdon
